Troya Renewable Energy Cooperative was established in 2017 in Çanakkale with 8 founding partners.
The cooperative has taken care to ensure that women and young members are included in the cooperative, thus ensuring the sustainability of the cooperative. The most important feature of the cooperative is that its management has been composed of women since its establishment.
Due to a change in legislation in 2019, the cooperative was unable to set up and start production. In May 2021, the legislation was amended again and the cooperative is currently struggling again for the installation.
The adventure of Troya Renewable Energy Cooperative members to establish a cooperative started with the announcement of the zoning plans for the Balıkesir-Çanakkale region in 2012-2013 and the inclusion of 15 thermal power plant projects in these plans.
The partners thought that by producing their own energy from clean energy sources and doing it on a community basis, we can set an example for others.
Troya Renewable Energy Cooperative organizes the Renewable Energy Cooperatives Conference every year to bring together cooperatives in Turkey and share information.
